Ultimate Comfort Foods Challenge

It’s a showdown – chicken soup vs mac & cheese!

I conducted a purely unscientific pole with the EIEO community last December. The question was “What food immediately comes to mind when I say ‘Comfort Food’?

I thought I would get all sorts of answers from chocolate to nuts to chips – I was wrong. Overwhelmingly there are two camps when it comes to food that make us feel ‘safe’, ‘better’, ‘warm’ and ‘cozy’. You know, that food you crave when you have the sniffles, or when you tripped and skinned your knee. Always delicious, filling and satisfying.

Team #1 strongly craves a gooey helping of Mac & Cheese.

Team #2 is convinced of the soothing goodness of Chicken Noodle Soup.

Which team are on? Comment below for your chance to win copies of:

I’ll pick a random winner on February 13th – just in time for Valentine’s Day!

In the meantime, we took a look at one of the 2014 food trends – Haute Comfort Food. It’s all about starting with a traditional recipe, but taking it up a notch. I think you are going to love what we came up with…

Rustic Chicken Noodle Soup with Truffle Salthere’s the recipe…

3 Cheese Shrimp Mac & Cheesehere’s the recipe…

Enjoy! And don’t forget to pick a team!

I love soup! …especially chicken noodle. I do agree with Cynthia, with an addition – Grilled Cheese with Tomato Soup = best of both worlds.

For overall COMFORT, definitely Mac n Cheese.
For under the weather COMFORT, Chicken Noodle Soup because it reminds me of mom nursing me back to health on cold, wintery days.

    I won’t lie. I’m addicted to cookbooks.

I’m a cheese and mac woman from way back. It was such a comforting lunch and now we still have it as part of one dinner meal per week at my husband’s request.
