Lori’s Famous Maple Bacon Baked Beans

  • 8-12 slices of bacon, chopped
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 1 red bell pepper, cored, seeded and finely chopped
  • 2 540mL cans red kidney beans, drained and rinsed.
  • ½ cup barbecue sauce
  • ½ cup maple syrup
  • ½ cup ketchup
  • 2 Tbsp Dijon mustard
  • 2 Tbsp soy sauce
  • 4 Tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 4 Tbsp brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup water - optional - It depends on how thin you like the sauce. I like mine thick, so I don't add any water. Add more if you like it thin.


  • Preheat oven to 350ºF. Spray a 9 x 13 baking dish with cooking spray.
  • In a large skillet, fry bacon until almost cooked. Remove to a small bowl. Drain fay leaving ¼ cup in pan.
  • Add onions and sauté until softened. Bring bacon back to pan and stir in all other ingredients. Simmer for 5 minutes.
  • Pour into prepared pan and bake for one hour. Remove from oven and stir. Serve as a main dish or great side to ham.
